Detection of clopidogrel resistence in patients undergoing elective percutaneous coronary intevention
Original language description
Clopidogrel is a potent drug for prevention of adverse effects during and after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Failure of antiplatelet therapy can have severe consequences; demanding for a reliable assay to quantify the effectiveness of clopidogrel treatment. In the traditional test to control this type of treatment, ADP has been used as the activator, which is not specific only to the P2Y12 receptor. We compare the light transmitting aggregometry (APACT 4004, Helena Laboratories, Austria) and the impedance aggregometry (Multiplate analyzer, Dynabyte Medical, Munich, Germany). Platelet aggregation was measured after stimulation with ADP and prostaglandin E1 by aggregometry within 2 - 5 days from the outset of this treatment with clopidogrel.
