Some Notes on Respecting FSP in Czech Translations from English
Original language description
The paper investigates the distribution of communicative dynamism in English sentences through their Czech translations. A close analysis of three different Czech translations of a single text of fiction reveals significant discrepancies in evaluating the degree of communicative dynamism carried by individual elements, especially of those which are context dependent. Special attention is paid to the principle of linear distribution of communicative dynamism in Czech and motivation for its violation in texts of fiction.
