The colour term green is subject to semantic analysis and a survey of morphological transformations, both in comparison with Czech. Green shares some features with other ?cold? colours, but its range and frequency is higher because of its link to nature.Also treated is the use of green in place names and surnames, and the colour?s symbolical connotations, again in English-Czech comparison).

Termín green je podroben sémantické analýze a spolu s přehledem morfologických transformací je porovnán s termínem zelený. Sdílí některé rysy pojmenování pro ?studené barvy?, ale má větší rozsah kontextů i frekvenci vzhledem k svému vztahu k přírodě. Pojednává se i o užití green v místních jménech a příjmeních a o jeho symbolických konotacích, opět ve srovnání angličtiny a češtiny.
