Ibn Ezra a Maimonidean Authorithy: The Evidence of the Early Ibn Ezra Supercommentaries
Original language description
The author examines a largely unedited and unstudied primary source material, the supercommentaries on Abraham Ibn Ezra?s commentary on the Pentateuch composed before 1348. These texts evidence the way Ibn Ezra?s works were included in a Maimonidean-Tibbonide canon of philosophical and exegetical writings as well as the way Ibn Ezra was transformed into a Maimonidean philosopher in the imagination of Maimonides? thirteenth- and fourteenth-century followers
