Metamorphosis in R. L. Stevenson's The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde
Original language description
The metamorphosis in R. L. Stevenson's most famous literary work is presented as a result of scientific experiment, a classic case of the abuse of science. On a close examination it is revealed however, that the ontology of this fantastic phenomenon is more complicated. The understanding of its ontological complexity can help us understand Stevenson's neo-romantic revolt with its cult of fantastic coincidence against the scientific determinism.
