An Application of the Menzerath-Altmann Law to Contemporary Spoken Chinese
Original language description
The aim of this publication is to introduce the research from the field of quantitative linguistics. The focus is on the spontaneous spoken Chinese and the following application of Menzerath-Altmann Law (MAL) to the obtained data. The publication deals with the various problems regarding this type of research such as choosing of the auditory samples, segmentation and quantification of them. Also it deals with the introducing of Menzerath-Altmann Law and with evaluating and interpreting of results and obtained graphs. The interesting phenomena appeared on the various levels, therefore the paper deals also with the explanations and with the new hypothesis which arose and which will require the follow-up research.
