Integral Andragogy in the Czech Republic
Original language description
The concept of integral andragogy is one of the main approaches to adult education in the Czech Republic and it is characteristic of the Department of Sociology, Andragogy and Cultural Anthropology at Palacky University in Olomouc. The main difference between this concept and other models of andragogy lies in the width of the field of action. In integral andragogy, adult education is not taken as a goal, but as a tool needed for the development of the whole personality of an adult. Therefore, in addition to adult education in all its varieties, other aspects of adult life are researched and developed, e. g. in social work, personal management and cultural work. This chapter seeks to explain why the action field is built this way and how it reflects thetheory of society and the role of andragogy in it.
