The portrait of men and women in phraseology and their roles in the leadership based on gender stereotypes
Original language description
Gender-specific phraseology has its place in the linguistic research in all languages. The idioms related to gender have limited meanings in relation to each gender - either female or male. Since phraseology depicts the cultural vision of the world and points out on the existing stereotypes in language, it gives us information about the position of men and women in different cultures and societies. This article summarizes the results of the semantic analysis of idioms which mention gender in form and/orcontent with regard to the semantic field of a relationship. The study is focused on the comparison of Dutch and Czech corpora and helps us to decide whether gender stereotypes exist in this specific linguistic discipline.
