The Anthropologist as a Mushroom. Notes from a PhD Research in Central Asia
Original language description
This volume contains annotations regarding my fieldwork in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan in 2011-2012. Such a fieldwork was the basis on which I wrote up my PhD dissertation on Dungan people. Dungans are Sinophone Muslims who live in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. The book contains a full ethnography of a Dungan wedding. Also, there are several notes on Dungan oral history as well as gender issues inside the community. Finally the book contains several pictures where the reader can see landscapes and some elements of Dungan material culture.
