Original language description
In recent years, online communities have become an important source of knowledge which has received much attention, as public managers discover the power of crowdsourcing. This paper aims at introducing the idea of crowdsourcing and describing how public managers can use it as a tool not only for gathering knowledge but also for building and maintaining strong positive relationship with their citizens. The paper examines the evolution of crowdsourcing use in public management, and it assesses the strategic use of different types of crowdsourcing to assist public managers in determining the appropriate crowdsourcing approach for responding to different kinds of management problems.
