L’étude s’interroge sur la réécriture du mythe de Don Juan proposée par Éric-Emmanuel Schmitt dans sa pièce de théâtre La Nuit de Valognes. En s’appuyant sur la terminologie genettienne, on examine les rapports hypertextuels qu’entretient le texte schmittien avec le texte source de Molière. À partir de l’analyse des modifications qui surviennent au niveau des catégories dramatiques ainsi qu’au niveau thématique, on propose de nouvelles voies à l’interprétation de la pièce d’Éric-Emmanuel Schmitt, et montre l’originalité créatrice de l’auteur.
