    Collections in early modern era

  • Original language description

The history of collecting is one of the most interesting fields of art history, offering opportunities for interdisciplinary research. Research on the origins and development of art collections, on how works were acquired through agents and presented to the public, and, last but not least, on the collector integrates many disciplines. In addition to art history, these include history, sociology, psychology, the history of art market and diplomatic relations. The study of the provenance of works of art is nowadays a much sought-after discipline not only in the field of scientific research but also in the contemporary art market. The workshop was organized by the Department of Art History Palacký University Olomouc in collaboration with University of Leiden, Humboldt University Berlin and University of Trnava. First three days of the workshop were dedicated to the conference where the scholars from European and American Universities and Scientific Institutions presented their research results. Last two days were dedicated to the excursions to the Archbishopric collections at Kroměříž castle and excursion in Olomouc.
