The Concerned Photographer Contextualized
Original language description
The study focuses on the notion of the concerned "photographer" as it is known and critically reflected in the context of American photography in the second half of the 20th century. However, it applies it to examples from the Czech environment, specifically the work of Jindřich Štreit and Viktor Kolář. The concept appeared in the context of local photodocumentary in contemporary discourse, but it was never critically grasped and reflected upon. The example of the work and activities of the two authors mentioned above offers an opportunity to examine the process of adoption or adoption of another concept that is transferred from the environment of Western theoretical practice to other localities. Rather than being part of the post-colonial tradition, however, it will be presented as a means of actively linking domains, and thus centres.
