Recursive Frame Analysis (RFA) As a Research Tool for Mapping Professional Helping Conversations.
Original language description
The article is focused on the research method Recursive Frame Analysis (RFA) developed for analysing therapeutic sessions as well as other helping conversations (supervision, coaching etc.). Philosophical roots and position of this method in the field of research methodology (particularly in the field of discursive analysis) are being addressed first. Then the text is focused on some practical considerations on “how to apply” this method – how to distinguish frames and galleries in conversations, how to score movements in „three-act structure“ and how to continuously observe circularities in conversations. There are some brief examples from RFA research too. The last part of the article is devoted to the possibilities of using this research method.
