In the period 1998-1999 occurrence of Bremia lactucae was searched in natural populations of Lactuca serriola in southern and middle Moravia. High percentage of infected populations was recorded, however intensity of infection was low on the majority ofsites. Virulence variation of B. lactucae was recorded both between and within sites and totally 11 v-phenotypes were recognized. The highest frequency was recorded for v-factors matching Dm genes in L. serriola.
