Outbreak of full blossom of red currant in the Czech Republic.
Original language description
Full blossom of red currant (plnokvetost rˇbezle) was described by Dr. RakŁs in 1971 as a disease of red currant cv. Hougton Castle in Czechoslovakia. The disease has not yet been reported from other countries. Fhll blossom has been found associated withfytoplasma only by electron microscopy in 1974, but not by molecular methods. Flower malformations are the most typical symptoms of affected bushes, which are reduced in size and produce sparse crops of small berries. The reduction of yield may reach upto 70%. There is no information on the way and degree of natural spread and on therapy of infected material.
