Epiphytic diatoms of the spring fens in the flysh area of the West Carpathians
Original language description
The objective of this study was to examine which environmental factors influence the differences in composition of diatom flora among different localities and within the individual locality. Diatoms on 21 species of dominant bryophytes were studied at 60localities. Multivariate analyses suggested that the variation of species composition of diatoms amongst different spring fens is closely related to variation in pH. Quantitative and qualitative distinctions within one site can be explained with respectto moisture conditions of microsites.
