Factors influencing distribution of moss diatom assemblages.
Original language description
Moss diatom assembleges were studied at the spring fens of the West Carpathians together with selected environmental variables. Algal assemblages studied can be characterized as epiphytic assemblages inhabiting spring mosses. However, conductivity and pHwere found as the most important factors influencing abundance and species composition of diatoms at different springs, still remained wide variability in temporal and spatial distribution of diatoms inside one locality. Moisture and pH were found to beprimary factors influencing moss and diatom species distribution within one locality..However, the seasonal dynamic has not been expected at spring biotopes, significant differences were found in representation of different algal groups. The representation of diatoms decreases during the season and with decreasing moisture. Cyanobacteria reach maximal representation in summer.
