The structure and stability of Co(II) and Fe(III) complexes with N6-substituted adenine derivates: a DFT study
Original language description
N-6-substituted adenine derivates are members of a group of both natural and artificial compounds named cytokinins, which have a large scale of physiological effects regulating the cell cycle. In this work, we compare the electronic properties of the Co(II) and Fe(III) ions in the perspective of their ability to form complexes with the N6-benzyladenine derivates variously substituted on both adenine and phenyl rings. Special attention is devoted to the quantum chemical analysis of the structure and stability of such complexes in the solid state and the solution. Performed DFT studies as well as comparative experiments indicate substantial differences between the spin states of the central ions as well in the arrangement of their sphere.
