The antiproliferative effect of a plant cytokinin analogue with inhibitory activity on cyclin-dependent kinases (CDK) is associated with cell cycle delay rather than with cell cycle arrest.
Original language description
Alteration of cyclin-dependent kinases (CDK) in cancer has stimulated the search of molecules targeting CDK activity as anticancer agents. We previously reported the inhibition of CDK1 and CDK2 activity by plant cytokinin analogues. These compounds inhibit proliferation and induce apoptosis, that is initiated by nmitochondrial pathway. In this study, the mechanism of CDK inhibitor-induced apoptosis and the effect on cell cycle distribution were further investigated.
