    Bremia lactucae, the causal agent of lettuce downy mildew, is a model organism for studies of plant-pathogen interactions. Genetics of Lactuca spp.-Bremia lactucae interactions; aspects that influence development of Bremia lactucae; components of host resistance and variability of defence (nitric oxide, NO synthase and NO modulators; flavonoids, phenolic acids and PAL; reorganisation of the cytoskeleton; hypersensitive response) and plant energetics are reviewed.

V článku jsou shrnuty genetika interakcí Lactuca spp.-Bremia lactucae; aspekty ovlivňující vývoj Bremia lactucae; komponenty hostitelské rezistence a variabilita obranných mechanismů (NO, NO syntasa; flavonoidy, fenolické kyseliny a PAL; reorganizace cytoskeletu; hypersenzitivní reakce) a energetika hostitelských rostlin.
