Evaluation of absolute type in the Partial Goals Method

  • Original language description

Methods of multiple criteria decision making usually work with evaluations of relative type. Such evaluations are dependent on the given set of alternatives and do not say too much about fulfillment of the decision-maker's goal. They are sufficient whenthe best alternative from a given set of alternatives is to be chosen. However, in the decision making about acceptance or rejection of alternatives entering one by one into a system (e.g. decision making about granting a credit in banking), an evaluation of absolute type with respect to the given goal is needed. The evaluations of absolute type presented in this paper are measurements on an absolute scale where one limit point expresses total fulfillment of the given goal while the second limit point means the total lack of its fulfillment. Such evaluations of absolute type are used in the Partial Goals Method which is implemented in its fuzzified version in the FuzzME software (Fuzzy Methods of Multiple Criteria Evaluation). In this p
