Copyright issues in tactile cartography
Original language description
For some kinds of users, the map is not only the possibility but also the necessity; among these belong people with visual impairments, for which, however, the conventional map is insufficient. The tactile cartography is a part of cartographic science that deals with the creation of maps, plans, globes and other geovisualization products specially made for the perception by touch. Tactile cartography has to significantly simplify the presented reality with regard to the possibility of recognizing symbols on the map, mostly made by embossed drawing on the foil. This significantly differs from the traditional cartography, which aims to present as much details and as possible. The number of visually impaired people increases every year and to their full-fledged integration into society is devoted a great attention. Copyright issues are crucial in the era of the information society. The law essentially requires the authorization to apply the right to use a work (license) to another person. There are possible arrangements and licensing agreements where no such authorization is needed (open licenses), in some cases is it also possible to use authors work in situations prescribed by law. The tactile cartography has its own specifics in the mean of the technological approach, map content and the form of geospace visualization. Therefore, also the copyright issues in the tactile cartography has its own specifics and it is the main topic of the presented paper.
