Summary School represents an environment which greatly interferes with the life of a child and on some level influences the future development of their personality. The results of numerous research inquiries show that repeated inadequate stress may havevery disadvantageous consequences on child#s development. At the Department of Psychology and Pathopsychology of the Pedagogical Faculty of the Palacky University, we studied measure of stress in the school environment and classified the consequences of individual stressors. We aspired to identify the situations representing excessive stress for children, and to verify the connection between the subjective measure of psychical stress and the chosen personal characteristics of an individual (level of se lf-esteem, frustration tolerance, self-evaluation and place of control given by the level of internality/externality).
