Chemiluminescence as a tool for detection of reactive oxygen species - the employment of Cypridina luciferin analogues

  • Original language description

Luminol, CLA and MCLA CL were studied in three ROS generating chemical systems in vitro (horseradish peroxidase-H2O2, CuSO4-H2O2 and NaClO-H2O2 system). Measurements were carried out in phosphate buffer (pH 7.4) at 25°C and 37°C using luminometer Fluoroskan Ascent. Superoxide dismutase and sodium azide were used as specific scavenger of superoxide anion and quencher of singlet oxygen, respectively. Their effect was compared with that of Trolox (water soluble analogue of vitamin E), that should scavengeall reactive species present in the reaction mixture.
