    The article is based on the recognition of school self-evaluation as an only mechanism of quality development on the school level in decentralized system is insufficient. That´s why it is focused on potential of benchmarking processes proved by experiences from abroad. With the use of analytical-descriptive research methods it further presents reality of making use of benchmarking in current Czech schooling, its already realized dimensions as well as limits preventing its use on different level of the system.
