Big cats in the wild as a limiting factor in sheep breeding.
Original language description
Sheep breeding in the Beskydy Mountains also fulfils an important role in the conservation of nature as extensive grazing helps to maintain a large biodiversity of local grassland assemblages. The Beskydy Mountains thus represent a specific area in whichsheep breeding is a traditional phenomenon necessary for the further protection of nature. At the same time, there also exist conflicts between this type of farming and wild predators ? large carnivores. In this study, we therefore analyze the current state of sheep farming in the Beskydy Mountains within the context of large carnivores occurring in this area. For this purpose, we have analyzed data on the presence of predators, sheep breeding within the region and clashes between the sheep farming andpresence of large carnivores in the landscape.
