Preference for an interdisciplinary or transdisciplinary approach constitutes a significant prerequisite and the determining factor for proper and comprehensive intervention in Individuals with Autistic Spectrum Disorders, especially across the disciplines of social sciences and medicine. The objective of the presented paper is to emphasize the substantiated nature of the interdisciplinary cooperation in individuals with autistic spectrum disorders. The authors will primary focus on the role of the speech therapist that will be defined not only from the theoretical point of view, but also reflected through the outcomes of a research carried out at the Faculty of Education, Palacky University, Olomouc, Czech Republic (IGA, PdF_2011_010, Logopedická intervence u osob s poruchou autistického spektra (Speech Therapy Intervention in Individuals with Autistic Spectrum Disorders); UP 2011/2012, main researcher: Vitásková).
