A Reflection of the Attitudes of Future Teachers to the Psychosocial Aspects of Health in Relation to their Coping Strategies
Original language description
The aim of the research was to compare the attitudes of pre-service teachers to the concepts associated with the psycho-social aspects of health and their stress coping strategies. The research sample consisted of 355 prospective teachers of different teaching specializations. As a measurement tool for measuring the attitudes of pre-service teachers the authors used the two factor semantic differential measurement. From the point of view of the current holistic model of the concept of health, pre-service teachers were presented with the following concepts to measure their attitudes to selected psychosocial components of health: Friendship, Future, Sleep, Personal computer (notebook, tablet), I (Self), Stress, Health, Disease, Psychological dependence on technology (PC, mobile, internet ...), Interpersonal communication, Relaxation, Old Age. Other students' characteristics relating to the issue were also identified, such as the compensatory mechanisms of short-term and long-term stress, preferred leisure and physical activities, and eating habits. Other indicators included: field of study, type of completed secondary school, gender, and the highest achieved education of parents. The obtained data were used to compile a semantic overview of the investigated concepts for the individual groups of respondents. The differences between the groups of respondents were further compared using the Student's t-test and an analysis of variance ANOVA.
