Supporting learner independence through peer correction
Original language description
Any assessment should encourage learners to continue learning, to try and improve their language proficiency. Self-reflection is an important learning strategy, especially valuable with advanced language learners, who need to be encouraged to further develop their learner independence. Learning from the mistakes of others through peer correction can help learners become aware of their own mistakes. The study aims to examine to what extent learners, final-year bachelor students of English, are able to recognise and correct errors in written texts created by their classmates. Types of errors that students are able to identify, that they tend to overlook and those they tend to correct inadequately are analysed.
