Technical Creativity of Pupils in the Gender Context
Original language description
In conformity with the current education policy in the Czech Republic, the present paper deals with the issue of technical education. Technology is an integral part of everyday life for both adults and children, it is omnipresent, and difficult to avoid. Prospectively, technology in its increasingly sophisticated form turns out to play an increasingly important role in people's lives, both on an individual level and across the society. Technical education is currently being implemented as soon as preschools, but particularly within the framework of primary, secondary, and tertiary education. At preschools and elementary schools it has a general educational character. This training should include a space which will enable pupils to work creatively to solve technical problems, think technically, and come up with ideas which can be subsequently transformed into concrete solutions. As regards creativity, it has been highly valued and desirable across subjects and fields of study, technical education being no exception. Technical creativity can be understood as the right and effective solution of problematic tasks of technical character, both at the theoretical and practical level. Among others, our paper focuses on perceiving and evaluating the practical creative activities of pupils at the reality of contemporary school. The aim of the paper is to present a project aiming at the implementation of a research on technical creativity of children, with emphasis on the study of gender dependence, all the aforementioned in connection with the current revision of RVP. The creativity of elementary school pupils shall be explored by means of a consensual technique of assessing the creativity of non-verbal activities. The results of the pupils' creative work shall be evaluated by a team of independent experts. The aim of the research is to deliver results which could be applied in school practice, above all within the framework of a curricular reform.
