Quality of Life of University Students with Visual Impairment: a Review Study
Original language description
The World Health Organization reports that there are 285 million people with visual impairment in the world, 39 million of whom are blind people. The European Union of blind people estimates that there are approximately 30 million people with visual impairment in Europe. The Czech Statistical Office, based on a sample survey of people with disabilities in 2013, states that there are approximately 65,000 people with severe visual impairment in the Czech Republic. The paper responds to the current state of inclusion and the quality of life of people with visual impairment who decided to study at university. The aim of the review study was to analyse the research findings of the issue of quality of life of people with visual impairment at the university by selecting, evaluating and synthesizing the results of research studies. Searches in selected databases were performed using selected keywords, namely "visual impairment", "student" and "quality of life". The analysis shows that this issue is still relevant in the field of scientific research. The paper presents the results of theoretical-critical analysis of existing researches in the area of quality of life of university students with visual impairment.
