Original language description
The paper responds to the need of the Czech pedagogical society to prepare university teachers for work with students from different sociocultural backgrounds. The main aim of the paper is to identify and describe the most important prerequisites for the work of a university teacher with foreign students. Partial aim of the paper is to determine which components of the given competence and to what extent they include the intercultural dimension of teaching work. The empirical part of the paper is based on semi-structured interviews with teachers working with students from different sociocultural backgrounds, and based on grounded theory it is possible to map teachers' ideas of the intercultural competence.
