The opinions by pupils on the culture in school surroundings in the Czech republic and its influence on the teaching of ethical education
Original language description
This contribution is focused on the subject of the school's culture and its influence on the concept of ethical education and the view of 2nd grade primary school pupils on this problematic. The contribution aims to assess how pupils understand the influence of school culture on the teaching of ethical education. The contribution is divided into the theoretical and practical part. In the theoretical part, the concept of ethical education in curricular documents of the Czech Republic and the concept of the school's culture from the perspective of experts will be defined. In the practical part of the contribution, the pupils' perspective will be examined on the basis of a quantitative method. Primary school pupils were presented with a semi- structured type of questionnaire, consisting of individual items, relating to themes of school culture and ethical education. The research investigation was conducted at 3 Primary Schools in the Czech Republic, and 90 pupils (n=90) who attend the 8th year of primary school and participate in ethical education classes participated in this research. The results of this search investigation describe how pupils perceive their school's culture, whether they note the influence of school culture on ethical education teaching and whether they perceive ethical education as an important subject at their school. Based on the individual summarizations of the results, reflections of the study and subsequent recommendations will be drawn.
