A Perspective on Adult Financial Literacy
Original language description
The aim of the theoretical part is first to summarize current knowledge in the field of financial education and to define according to relevant studies the level of financial literacy in the Czech Republic and abroad. Further define financial education as a process and financial literacy as a result of this education. Also focus on the position of financial advisors who work with their clients in the field of money and can thus assess whether their clients are theoretically and practically oriented in the world of finance. The aim of the practical part of this study is to identify and assess the experience of selected financial advisors in working with clients in the field of financial literacy. The research is carried out through interviews with financial advisors. The information obtained from the interviews is then analyzed using coding. In this case, open coding is chosen, which is one of the methods of grounded theory (Strauss and Corbin, 1999, p. 14). This work will provide a new perspective on the level of financial literacy of the adult population in terms of financial advisors. It can also help to increase the level of financial literacy through the inclusion of sub-topics in education or. through the application of the Financial Literacy Standard in school practice. The article proves that the topic of financial literacy is of great importance in today's society and has its justification and the necessary use already in the inclusion in education at primary and secondary schools. It also provides interesting information in comparing the level of financial literacy of the adult population in the Czech Republic and abroad.
