The workshop, featuring professor Diederik Oostdijk (VU Amsterdam) as the topic expert, focused on the Dutch-American relations after WW II, with particular focus on the history of design, realization and later use of The Netherlands Carillon, a unique war memorial in Arlington, VA (US). The workshop dealt with issues of American foreign policy and with the image of America abroad, particularly in the Netherlands, and the history of the relations of the politicians and people of both countries.
