Untitled. Undated. Educational Material for Distance Art Education

  • Original language description

The video (as a conference paper) takes the form of a screening of five educational animated clips designed for art education, created at the Palacký University in Olomouc (Czech Republic) in cooperation with the Olomouc Museum of Art and Czech Radio Olomouc. The series of clips – which will be accompanied by other materials in the future – is called No Title. No Date. and offers a helping hand to those who are somewhat lost in the world of art. The clips represent an original educational tool whose aim is to convey to children aged 10–14 some concepts and facts from the world of art (art field, genres, relation of art to reality, etc.). Animated characters of an art theoretician, a collector, a restorer and an artist who are discussing art with children and adults humorously convey the content. Clips are freely available to pupils and teachers and are pro-inclusive – specifically aiming to enrich available teaching materials for hearing impaired pupils. Deaf pupils whose mother tongue is Czech sign language tend to be neglected in regards to the visual nature of fine art. However, an in-depth understanding of art – especially modern art – is not possible without a supportive interpretation and explanation of the context. Educational materials respond to this fact and represent modern educational material accessible to ordinary pupils as well as to pupils with hearing impairment thanks to subtitles and sign language interpretation.
