Original language description
The digital technology of the Internet can be viewed either as a permanent Christmas or as a continuous gift of Pandora´s boxes. 2, 500 years ago a refusal of a new technology (of the alphabet), was depicted in the Phaedrus, and recently (of the Internet) echoed in the same words by contemporary teachers educated in the era of prevailing alphabet literacy. A method of inserting the effects of digital environment into McLuhan´s “tetrads” is supposed to be applicable when any new technology, a new medium is seriously considered. This paper will consider the efficacy of tetrads in the present digital environment.
