Unexpected Territories — Virtual Reality
Original language description
Unexpected Territories is an immersive VR artwork born from a unique dialogue between the traditional printmaking techniques of visual artist Ondřej Michálek and the digital innovation of Lunchmeat Studio. By translating the physical principles of the graphic matrix and imprint into a virtual environment, the project creates a meditative space suspended between tangible structure and dreamlike abstraction. Within this grey-blue landscape, viewers encounter floating, organic forms—tangles of branches and wires illuminated by fluorescent light—where quiet murmurs replace traditional soundtracks and open space replaces instructions. Created for the 2025 InSEA World Congress, this work builds upon Michálek’s retrospective publication Práce 1969–2024, offering a subtle yet powerful territory for pure contemplation and imagination.
