Quantification of physical activity in physical education with regard to the content, gender and exercise intensity - using pedometers

  • Original language description

Physical Education lessons are the only source of organized physical activity (PA) for some students. Differences in content, teachers' approaches and other factors may affect the amount of realised physical activity. This submission is based on monitoring of physical activity during teaching practices of student teachers during their university master study programme. Pedometers YAMAX SW-700 and questionnaires were used during the PA monitoring. Data from Questionnaires ("Pupil's attitude towards the physical education lesson") designed to diagnose Physical Education lesson (abbr. PEL) are also used. The goal is to describe the number of steps in PELs and relate it to gender, PE content and the level of exercise intensity. Partial objective is also tomap students' attitude toward PEL led by student teachers. We gathered and analysed 2,128 data from pedometers (1,110 from habitual PEL and 1,018 from PEL with higher intensity) and 2,909 questionnaires (1,490 from habitual PEL and 1,419
