The effects of various visual conditions on the gait cycle in children with different level of motor coordination - a pilot study
Original language description
The aim of the study was to investigate the effects of different visual conditions on motor performance in walking in the 8-9 years old children of the different level of motor coordination. In the experiment the typically developing children (TD) and children with low level of motor coordination (LMC) performed the walk trials under full vision, limited vision and non-vision conditions. The LMC children walked with shorter steps and slower speed than TD children. However, the shortening of the step length and decrease of speed of walk under limited vision was similar in both groups. The study suggested slower neural processes within the sensomotor control of walk in LMC children, and the probable impairment in balance indicated by a longer duration ofboth the load response and pre-swing phase of a gait pattern.
