The aim of the paper is to compare the size, characteristics and production capacities of both France and Czech Republic agriculture with special reference to certain selected regions. This is particularly based on the comparisons made in the following areas, economic results, size and structure of agricultural farm property and detailed stratification of production and business orientation of the representative regions in both countries. The paper continues to analyse the differences and some factors influencing the future extension and conditions of next development of production levels after the country's entry into the single market of the European Union. The aim of the paper is also to draw a general conclusion about the development, structure andefficiency of agricultural farms in the regional context in the domestic environment and in France, and to prove, using the example of this country from the CAP viewpoint, the validity of the proposition that the agriculture of Western E

Příspěvek se zabývá porovnáním velikostí a výrobní na základě charakteristiky a analýz českého a francouzského zemědělství se zaměřením na vybrané regiony. Na základě komparace ekonomických výsledků, velikostní a vlastnické struktury zemědělských podniků, zaměstnanosti v zemědělství a podrobnější stratifikace výrobního zaměření podnikatelské základny vybraného regionu v ČR a ve Francii dokumentuje rozdíly i některé faktory ovlivňující rozměr a podmínky dalšího vývoje produkční stránky českého zemědělství po vstupu na jednotný trh Evropské Unie. Cílem příspěvku je zobecnit poznatky o vývoji, struktuře a výkonnosti zemědělských podniků v regionálních aspektech u nás a ve Francii a ověřit na příkladech jedné z původních zemí EU-15 z hlediska SZP, Francie,do jaké míry platí teze, že zemědělství západní Evropy se orientuje na malé rodinné farmy, a jak lze hodnotit dvojí strukturu farem jako specifický rys zemědělství v zemích Střední a Východní Evropy reprezentované Českou republikou.
