Original language description
Was the establishment of the Federal Reserve System the result of rent-seeking? In this paper, the author follows the assumption of a Public Choice theoretical background and explores the possibility that creation of the most powerful central bank in theworld could not be the result of socially beneficial public policy but was the result of unproductive rentseeking. The author classifies and explains the possible interests of three interest groups: (i) federal representatives, (ii) small scale state bankers, and (iii) financial entrepreneurs. The author does not explore possible alternatives.

Czech description
Bylo založení Federálního reservního systému výsledkem dobývání renty? Autor v článku vychází z předpokladů teorie veřejné volby a zkoumá možnost, že založení nejmocnější centrální banky světa nebylo výsledkem společensky prospěšné hospodářské politiky,ale výsledkem prosazení neproduktivního dobývání renty. Autor v článku klasifikuje a vysvětluje možnou realizaci tří zájmů tří zájmových skupin: (i) federální vlády (ii) drobných bankéřů (iii) bohatých finančníků. Autor v článku nezkoumá možné alternativní uspořádání měnového systému.
