Evaluation of managerial work of head and department nurses

The paper published the statistical results of time studies that were carried out by the means of using the method "auto-screening" in the Military Hospital of Brno, for 7 head nurses of hospital and 11 head nurses of de-partment. The aim of the paper isto identify the contents and the structure of employment and managerial activities of the head nurses of hospital and the head nurses of department. It was found that the both groups of nurses in this hospital, on average, most perform managerial and personnel activities (about 200 minutes a day). For the structure of managerial activities, most of the time (on average 53 minutes per day) both the head nurses of hospital and the head nurses of department spend on rounds. Control activities were for thetwo groups of respondents represented in the second place. Both the head and the department nurses are performing administrative tasks, on average more than 100 minutes a day.
