Original language description
In order to understand regional disparities it can be approached from several perspectives. Regional disparities can be understood in terms of differences in the socio-economic development of regions, resulting mainly into economic, infrastructural and social disparities, including standard of living and regional polarization. A significant impact on development and economic performance of regions are: globalization, technological changes and decrease of working population. The aim of this paper is to illustrate the persistent disparities between regions of SR, despite the use of EU funds. SR regions, even ten years after joining the EU, have divergent nature although Slovakia, according to the economic results, has convergent character and gradually and slowly approaching the States within the EU15, respectively EU28.
