Influence of hen egg shape on eggshell compressive strength
Original language description
The eggshell behaviour at the static compression has been investigated. Exact description of the eggshell counter shape has been used for the verification of a common accepted theory of the compression of bodies of convex form. Particularly, the shape ofthe eggshell counter was described using polar coordinates r, j, and radius of the curvature, R. Two compression axes were used to determine the rupture force, specific deformation, rupture energy and firmness. Energy absorbed by an egg at the moment ofrupture was also determined. The least resistance to rupture was observed for the eggs compressed between poles. Also other quantities connected with the eggshell damage depends on the orientation of the loading force during eggs compression. It was found that egg shape influences the energy absorbed during egg loading, both in pole and equator plane. The other parameters are not affected by egg shape. Experiments revealed that the deformation behaviour of the eggshell is elastic. Elast
