Changes in kinematic viscosity and shear stress during the lifetime of the engine oil

  • Original language description

The goal of this research is monitoring changes of shear stress and kinematic viscosity of engine oil. It has been focused on automotive engine oil. There have been evaluated two different engine oils -- first from petrol engine and second from diesel engine. Service interval of engine oils has been 15,000 km. Summary twelve samples of used engine oils have been taken. Rotary rheometer Anton Paar DV--3P with special adapter for a small amount of sample has been used. The measured values have been modelled by linear fits.
