The effect of chamomile extract on performance and gut microflora in chickens
Original language description
The study with 56 male broilers Ross 308 was focused on the effect of different doses of chamomile extract on their gut microflora. Control group of cockerels obtained feed mixture without chamomile extract. The second group obtained feed mixture with 0.6 % of chamomile extract in feed mixture. The addition of 0.6% chamomile extract to the broilers diet had no effect on their growth. Number of CFU, sulphide-reducing clostridia, coliforms and lactic acid bacteria was higher in the control group. Total plate count was higher in the group with addition of chamomile extract.
