The quality of meat in cattle is influenced by many genes; one of them is SCD1 gene (stearoyl-CoA desaturase). This gene is associated with composition of fatty acids in meat and milk. In this study, the total of 260 bulls of Czech Fleckvieh breed were genotyped using the PCR-RFLP method. The frequencies of alleles and genotypes were determined in this population and the association analysis between fatty acids in fat extracted from musculus longissimus dorsi and genotypes was performed. Statistically significant (p<0.0001) association between genotypes and myristoleic acid (C14:1) was found. CC genotype had higher median value. No other associations were found.
