Factors affecting the incidence of footpad dermatitis in broilers chickens

The aim of the study was evaluated the effect of different factors on occurrence of footpad dermatitis in broiler chickens. The study is expected that incidence of footpad dermatitis and severity of this disease are as welfare indicator in fattening of broiler chickens. As parameters were observed season and quality of litter. Part of the aim was to determined effect of footpad dermatitis on performance (EPEF) of broiler chickens. The effect of season was observed on four farms all year. Scoring of thepaws was done in slaughterhouse according to six-point scale (0-5) Ask (2010). There were classified between 1200 to 1500 paws from each flock. To facilitate the evaluation of the paws damage the numbers in scoring groups were summarized as follows: negligible damage (0+1), intermediate damage (2+3) and severe damage (4+5).
